A Covenant
Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, you prayed that your people might be one. We are your people in Northfleet. We pray for our community
and pray that you will bless the Covenant we share with you and with each other. Strengthen
our resolve to worship and work together at every opportunity. May our churches
be united in their love for you and each other and may the gentle persistence of you Holy Spirit remove the barriers
that still divide us. Amen.
Those who
live and work in the parish are prayed for each month on the date shown.

A SELECTION OF INTERCESSIONS
God, in the rush of the morning before this busy day, help us to remember that whatever
we do and wherever we go you are always there with us. Help us to understand the importance of our leisure time to recharge
our bodies and renew our minds and when we finally have time to rest, help us to do so, secure in the knowledge that you will
always watch over us with love.
God of Love, we give you thanks for the boundless mercies of our daily life. Make us more
grateful for your many gifts: for the blessing of health, for the comforts of
home and family life, for the joys of friendship and for the beauty of the world around us. Teach us day by day to count our
blessings. We thank you that among the many blessings you have given us is a
sense of humour; the ability to laugh as well as to weep; to laugh with others and most of all to laugh at ourselves - for
the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Lord, we pray for your blessings on the world, and pray for peace in this increasingly
troubled world. There are many countries that suffer from great unrest and unhappiness, we remember them all today, especially
Lord, the people of Iraq and Afghanistan and the tensions there, the people of Palestine and Israel and all those people less
fortunate than ourselves. May all those
in authority use their power wisely in the ways of justice, truth and peace
We
pray for the Church, asking that wherever your people meet there may be a real fellowship in which there are no quarrels and
divisions; no distinctions of race, of colour, or of social standing. Help us all to work and pray together to make our church
a place where we are truly united.
We pray, our Father, that when the interests and aspirations of nations conflict with one
another, their leaders may not turn to war but together seek a just and acceptable way forward. We especially pray for peace
in the many war torn parts of your world. We especially remember Lord, all those
affected by the actions of terrorists - those who lost their lives, the injured and the people they left behind, please help
them through this difficult time. We pray too Lord, for the terrorists and their organisations, that they may see a way to
the path of peace and end this unnecessary violence and hatred. We dwell on this earth as one nation, deepen our understanding
of peoples of all races, languages and customs so that we may live together united under one Father in the faith of the one
Lord, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Holy Spirit of light and truth, help us to understand the causes of our social tensions
and unrest within our community. Deepen our concern for those less fortunate than ourselves and stir in us a burning sense
of responsibility for one another. We remember all the people of our community. Grant that your holy and life-giving Spirit
may so move the hearts of the people, that the barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, hatreds cease;
that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace.
Lord God we ask you to bless all those
who are suffering in body, mind or spirit. Help them when they get depressed by their aches and pains, hold them in your loving
arms, supporting and comforting them. In a moment of silence we pray for those on our intercessions list and those known to
us alone Lord.
We pray, Dear Lord for all those who have recently departed and hold in our prayers all
those who have been left behind.
