We are open

The Parish of St Botolph, Northfleet and St Mark, Rosherville

Dear Friends

It is with great joy that we write to tell you that we are returning to Sunday Eucharist Services in August.

From Sunday 2nd August the service will be held in St Botolph’s Church ONLY and will be at 9.30 am.

St Mark’s Church will remain closed for the time being.

As we begin to worship together in a different way, the following guidelines may help you to know what will happen in these services.

On entry you will be asked to provide your name and contact phone number as part of the ‘Track and Trace’ which we are required to have in place.

Social distancing must be adhered to at all times (pews are marked) and use of hand gel on entry to church and before taking Communion.

An altar will be placed in front of the screen with a one way system for receiving Communion.

If you are unable to come forward for Communion, please stay in your pew and it will be brought to you – obviously no help may be given with supporting you.

We will hold a short said service of about 30 minutes.

A one page service sheet and pew sheet will be provided, which you must take away to use or dispose of.

There must be no music or singing and no physical contact as part of The Peace

The Communion will be bread only with the priest taking the chalice on behalf of everyone.

Everyone is asked to disperse from the church after the service and not gather together in church before or after the service.

Please ask a Church Warden if you wish to have a candle lit – individuals are not to light their own candles.

There will be no refreshments after the service.

The children's corner and children's activities will not be available at the present time – please bring something for your children to do with you in your pew.

A collection will not be taken and everyone is discouraged from giving cash – cheques payable to “Northfleet and Rosherville PCC” or direct bank payments to Sort code 20-46-73 Account Number 03234568 (giving your name as a reference for the transaction).

We are following the very strict guidelines laid down by the Government, Church of England and Rochester Diocese and we hope and pray that as the weeks go by some of these restrictions will be lifted. In the meantime please help us and others by abiding by these; they are in place to keep us all safe.

With our prayers for you at this time, may God richly bless us in all we do in his name.

People are also encouraged to wear face coverings in enclosed public spaces where there are people they do not normally meet, such as a place of worship.

In light of this, the Church of England now strongly advises that face coverings should be worn by all those attending a place of worship, including ministers, worshippers, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors, where there may be other people present; remembering that they are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus COVID-19 and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing.
