The Collect, the prayer for the day

O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that with you as our ruler and guide we may so pass through things temporal that we lose not our hold on things eternal; grant this, heavenly Father, for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Church Opening

Our churches will be open for silent, personal and private prayer only, in line with the current guidelines.

2 metre Social Distancing rules will strictly apply, with set seating arrangements. Please note we are not allowed to give out Bibles or prayer books; please bring your own if needed. Toilet facilities will not be available as our hall facilities will remain closed at both churches.

St Botolph’s will open every Saturday and every Tuesday from 10am - 11am

St Mark’s will open every Saturday from 11am - 12noon

until further notice

Sadly, this is not a time of formal worship, which we hope and pray will be allowed to begin at some time in the future as we await further guidance – still being finalised - from the Church of England. We have a duty of care for all, so please note that these arrangements are dependent on there not being a ‘second spike’ of infections and the ‘R’ number less than 1.

Thank you to everyone who helped to clear the paths and paving slabs at St Botolph’s on Friday and to the ‘church mice’ who cleaned, sanitised, laundered and prepared the churches for opening!

Those who have died: + George and Lilian Johnson +

At the Anniversary of their death: + Rose Chandler + Charles Oliver +

Lord, we pray for all people who seek to follow your way in their lives. Let your church speak your word of truth with confidence and in unity so that those who are searching and listening will be able to see and hear clearly your message of love and peace. Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

Lord, we pray for people and nations whose troubles drown out your message of harmony and where the violent heat of anger seeks to destroy your word of peace for all peoples. Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

Lord, we pray for the people around us in our neighbourhoods and our places of work. Give us sensitivity and insight into their needs and vulnerabilities so that we may learn truly to love our neighbours as ourselves. Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

Lord, we pray for people we know who are ill, anxious, and for those that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, especially in these times of COVID-19. We pray that you will lead them, and us, in peace towards healing and wholeness of mind, body and spirit. Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

Lord, we pray for those who have died, gather them to your eternal kingdom of peace. At the anniversary of their passing we remember those we have known. Draw near to those who mourn and for those who carry the burden of bereavement, that they may know your peace and comfort at this time. Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

Lord, we offer ourselves to you in faith and confidence. Show us, as we go out into the world, how we can best prepare ourselves to be part of your response to our prayers. Fill us with the Spirit of life which was in Christ Jesus, Son and Saviour. Merciful Father: Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
